Green hydrogen has a wide range of uses across industries, energy systems, and transportation — making it one of the most versatile clean fuels available today.

In industry, it can replace fossil fuels used to produce steel, cement, and fertilisers, helping companies cut their carbon emissions. In the energy sector, hydrogen acts as a powerful storage medium: excess electricity generated by solar or wind farms can be converted into hydrogen and later turned back into power when demand is high or renewable output is low.

In transport, hydrogen fuel cells are being used to power cars, buses, trucks, and even ships — producing only water vapor as exhaust. It’s especially promising for long-distance travel, where battery-based systems are less efficient.

Green hydrogen also supports decarbonisation of refineries and chemical plants, and it can be blended with natural gas to make existing energy systems cleaner.

Globally, countries like Japan, South Korea and Germany are investing in hydrogen imports, while India, with its abundant renewable resources, has the potential to become a key exporter.

From powering factories to fuelling vehicles, green hydrogen is set to play a major role in the world’s clean energy transition.
