ACME Cleantech Solutions Pvt Ltd has emerged as the winner of India’s latest green ammonia auction, securing supply to a major fertiliser facility at a price point that underscores the sector’s rapidly improving competitiveness.

The auction, conducted by the Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd (SECI) under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) programme, marked the seventh such tender in the country. ACME won with a bid of ₹51.89 per kg to supply 50,000 tonnes of green ammonia annually to Coromandel International Ltd.’s Vishakhapatnam plant.

SECI highlighted that the outcome demonstrates not only strong industry participation but also the pace of cost reduction in India’s green hydrogen and ammonia markets. “With this result, India continues to demonstrate strong participation, rapid cost compression, and growing confidence in the sector. Prices discovered across auctions now range from ₹55.75/kg to ₹50.75/kg, showing that the market is stabilising at globally competitive levels,” SECI noted in a statement.

The agency added that the results confirm green ammonia is “on course to become affordable, scalable and central to the decarbonisation of industry.”

The result comes shortly after Jakson Green won the sixth green ammonia auction with a record-low bid of ₹50.75 per kg, reflecting heightened competition and falling costs across successive tenders. ACME, a long-standing player in India’s green hydrogen space, has also secured awards in previous auctions, further consolidating its position in the market.

The seventh auction formed part of Project-IX under the SIGHT Scheme (Mode 2A – Tranche I). Launched last year through a Request for Selection (RfS), the programme seeks to support the production and supply of 724,000 tonnes of green ammonia annually to 13 fertiliser plants across India. The initiative is aimed at reducing the country’s reliance on fossil fuel-based fertiliser inputs while advancing its clean energy transition.

Industry observers note that India’s green ammonia auctions are now setting benchmarks that compare favourably with international projects, positioning the country as a potential leader in low-carbon fertiliser production. The falling tariff levels are seen as a crucial enabler for scaling up investment and accelerating the adoption of green hydrogen derivatives.

As demand for sustainable fertiliser inputs rises both domestically and globally, ACME’s latest win not only strengthens its commercial pipeline but also reinforces India’s growing prominence in the emerging green ammonia sector.
