ACME Cleantech Solutions Private Limited (ACME) has once again consolidated its position as a leader in India’s clean energy transition by winning another Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) green ammonia auction. The company secured the award under the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) Programme, Mode-2A – Tranche-I, marking its fourth win in this competitive series.

As part of the agreement, ACME will supply 100,000 tonnes per annum (TPA) of green ammonia to the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) at Paradeep, Odisha, at a discovered tariff of Rs 49.75 per kg. This is the most competitive tariff achieved so far and highlights the progress being made in cost optimisation for green ammonia production in India. The win comes close on the heels of ACME’s success earlier this month when it secured the eighth SECI auction at a tariff of Rs 54.73 per kg to supply 100,000 TPA of green ammonia to IFFCO’s Kandla facility in Gujarat. With these two back-to-back contracts, ACME is now committed to supplying 200,000 TPA of green ammonia to IFFCO, reinforcing its leadership position in the sector.

The latest award represents the ninth auction concluded under SECI’s programme and reflects ACME’s ability to consistently bid competitively while scaling up its clean energy portfolio. The SIGHT scheme envisages a total procurement of 724,000 TPA of green ammonia through 13 auctions. With four wins already, ACME is well on track to capture a significant share of the overall capacity on offer. The declining tariffs achieved in successive auctions point to a clear trend of industry maturity and growing investor confidence in the green ammonia space, with India emerging as a cost leader in this segment.

The fertiliser industry is among the largest consumers of ammonia in India, relying heavily on fossil fuel-based grey ammonia. Transitioning even a part of this demand to green ammonia can bring down the sector’s carbon footprint substantially. For IFFCO, one of the world’s largest fertiliser cooperatives, securing a steady and large-scale supply of green ammonia is central to its long-term sustainability strategy. The Paradeep and Kandla projects will therefore serve as important milestones, ensuring reliable access to low-carbon feedstock while contributing to India’s broader decarbonisation goals.

This achievement also carries significance in the context of India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission, which targets the production of five million tonnes per annum of green hydrogen by 2030, along with a strong focus on its derivatives such as green ammonia. Companies like ACME are expected to play a key role in delivering this ambition by demonstrating cost efficiency and scaling up production capacity rapidly.

By winning its fourth auction, ACME has not only strengthened its leadership in the sector but also shown its ability to execute at scale in one of the most competitive clean energy markets globally. As SECI continues to roll out the remaining auctions under the SIGHT programme, the company is well positioned to expand its footprint further, helping India move closer to becoming a global hub for green hydrogen and ammonia.
