The Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd (IREDA) is set to broaden its portfolio by venturing into emerging sectors such as green hydrogen, e-mobility, and ethanol, while strengthening its leadership in established renewable energy areas, including solar, wind, hydro, biomass and cogeneration.
Speaking at the company’s 38th Annual General Meeting, held via video conferencing from its Corporate Office, Chairman and Managing Director Pradip Kumar Das outlined the agency’s forward-looking strategy. He said, “IREDA is working towards expanding into emerging sectors such as Green Hydrogen, E-Mobility, and Ethanol while consolidating the company’s leadership in traditional renewable energy sectors.”
Das also highlighted IREDA’s commitment to promoting ease of doing business through digitisation, automation, and advanced data analytics aimed at improving employee productivity. “The company is investing in automation and data analytics to improve operational efficiency and productivity,” he noted.
On the financial front, Das reported that as of the first quarter of FY26, IREDA has sanctioned over ₹2.49 lakh crore in funding and disbursed ₹1.63 lakh crore, playing a pivotal role in enabling India’s renewable energy transition. The company’s loan book has grown at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 29% since FY21, reaching ₹79,941 crore in Q1 FY26.
He further stated that IREDA’s operating profit for the quarter showed a year-on-year growth of 49%, underscoring the agency’s strong financial health. The company’s Infrastructure Finance Company (IFC) status and the Section 54EC tax exemption for bonds have enhanced its ability to attract investors and secure competitive funding. Das reaffirmed that these strategic initiatives will position IREDA to not only accelerate the country’s renewable energy growth but also tap into next-generation clean technologies that align with India’s decarbonisation goals.
