UK-based hydrogen solutions provider GeoPura has acquired assets and personnel from bankrupt electrolyser manufacturer Green Hydrogen Systems (GHS), marking the launch of its first overseas operation in Denmark.
The acquisition includes spare parts, tools and fixtures for GHS’s A-Series electrolyser, along with former employees possessing specialist knowledge of the technology. While the transaction value remains undisclosed, the move ensures GeoPura can maintain its existing fleet of A-Series units, avoiding the need to retire or replace them.
Rather than relocating the parts and staff to the UK, GeoPura has established a new subsidiary, GeoPura (Europe), in Denmark to act as a dedicated electrolyser support hub and to position the company for business growth outside its home market.
GeoPura’s core business centres on deploying hydrogen power units manufactured by Siemens Energy. The firm also produces its own hydrogen to fuel these systems and sells surplus supply into the wider market. It currently operates production facilities in northern England and has secured UK Government funding for a 15 MW hydrogen project.
GHS had faced financial strain since October 2024 despite initiating a significant cost-reduction programme. The Danish company entered in-court restructuring in May but subsequently filed for bankruptcy, shortly after competitor Thyssenkrupp Nucera acquired its newer X-Series electrolyser technology.
