A high-level German delegation recently visited the R&D Centre of DEWA to explore Dubai’s ongoing green hydrogen and renewable energy efforts. The visit underscores growing international interest in the UAE’s clean-energy progress and reflects a broad intent to deepen collaboration on hydrogen technologies.

The delegation was part of a coordinated visit organised under a bilateral framework, representing several German clean-energy and hydrogen-related firms and institutions. Their objective was to assess technological solutions, understand DEWA’s hydrogen-related innovation approach and examine possible cooperation pathways. The meeting provided a comprehensive overview of DEWA’s strategy for integrating hydrogen production, storage and use within a broader clean-energy and sustainability agenda.

Reviewing hydrogen technologies and future collaboration

During the engagement, DEWA outlined its hydrogen capabilities, presented ongoing projects and shared insights on its renewable-driven hydrogen roadmap. The German group reviewed DEWA’s clean-energy infrastructure, including demonstration-scale hydrogen applications, and explored the potential for German technologies to support expansion. Technical discussions covered storage solutions, hydrogen production systems and integration with renewable sources. Both sides discussed the importance of joint research, technology exchange and investment to accelerate deployment of green hydrogen in the region.

Beyond technology exchange, the delegation also considered regulatory, commercial and financing dimensions needed to foster hydrogen market adoption. The visit served as a platform for building trust and aligning strategic vision between Emirati and German stakeholders. DEWA reaffirmed its commitment to scale clean energy, while the German contingent expressed interest in contributing through engineering, equipment supply and long-term partnerships.

The delegation’s visit is part of a wider pattern of international collaborations aimed at supporting the energy transition. It reflects increasing global recognition of hydrogen’s potential and highlights the role of cross-border cooperation in accelerating decarbonisation. The exchange reinforces the view that achieving large-scale hydrogen deployment needs not only domestic policy and infrastructure but also international cooperation, shared expertise and global supply-chain engagement.
