CM Naidu has announced that Andhra Pradesh is poised to become a national leader in green hydrogen innovation and deployment. Speaking at the Green Hydrogen Summit held at SRM University in Amaravati, Naidu called for a renewed focus on research, low-cost green electricity generation, and industrial application of hydrogen technologies.

The chief minister urged energy companies and research institutions to collaborate on building scalable and cost-effective hydrogen solutions. “We now need to focus on low-cost green electricity production and storage. Andhra Pradesh should be the focal point for such research and innovation,” Naidu stated during a meeting with industry leaders and energy executives.

He highlighted Andhra Pradesh’s natural strengths—abundant renewable energy, strategic coastal access, and a strong energy infrastructure—as the foundation for transforming the state into a future "Hydrogen Valley." He also pointed to recent central government initiatives and NTPC-led projects, including upcoming green hydrogen facilities in Visakhapatnam.

Naidu referenced the state’s history of energy reforms, including the reverse pump system at Srisailam introduced in the 1990s to address power shortages. “I was the first to implement electricity reforms in 1999. Now, we must lead in green hydrogen and clean energy,” he noted.

Plans are also underway to develop ports along Andhra Pradesh’s 975-kilometer coastline at 50-kilometer intervals, enabling future hydrogen exports and building a strong logistics backbone for the emerging green hydrogen sector.

The summit reaffirmed the state's ambition to be at the forefront of India’s clean energy transition, in line with national goals under the Green Hydrogen Mission.
