Envision Energy has successfully commissioned the world’s largest green hydrogen and ammonia facility in Chifeng, Inner Mongolia. The plant is powered entirely by a 400 MW off-grid renewable energy system, combining wind and solar generation with energy storage and AI-powered management tools.
Designed to operate independently of the national grid, the facility will produce 180,000 tonnes of green ammonia and 90,000 tonnes of green hydrogen annually. This scale of output makes it a landmark project in industrial decarbonisation, with immediate applications in heavy industries and shipping.
The energy system integrates Envision’s wind turbines, solar PV modules, battery storage, and its proprietary energy management software, EnOS, enabling real-time optimisation of production and supply. By operating fully off-grid, the plant demonstrates a practical model for clean energy self-sufficiency—critical for global regions aiming to decarbonise without overloading traditional infrastructure.
The project is also aligned with China’s broader push to achieve carbon neutrality, offering a replicable model for other large-scale hydrogen projects worldwide.
