In a major boost to India’s renewable energy ambitions, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated a 1.2 gigawatt (GW) solar module manufacturing facility and laid the foundation stone for a 2.5 megawatt (MW) green hydrogen production plant in Nagpur. The event, held at the corporate campus of WorldOne Energies, marks a significant step toward sustainable, self-reliant energy solutions in the state and across the country.

The newly commissioned solar manufacturing unit is one of the largest of its kind in India and will produce a comprehensive suite of green energy components—including solar photovoltaic (PV) modules, silicon ingots and wafers, inverters, and battery energy storage systems (BESS). The facility is designed to cater to both domestic and export markets, including the United States, thereby enhancing India’s green manufacturing footprint globally.

Mark Garvin, Co-Founder of WorldOne Energies, emphasized the company’s vision during the launch: “This factory represents our pledge to bring Indian innovation to global markets. It’s a testament to our belief in a cleaner, greener, and more self-sufficient energy future.”

The inauguration drew high-profile attendance, including Maharashtra Energy Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, MLAs Parinay Fuke and Ashish Deshmukh, entrepreneur Pyare Khan, and filmmaker Anubhav Vinod Sinha. The project received particular praise for promoter Muratza Kothawala, whose leadership and vision were key to bringing the dual green energy initiatives to life.

The event signals Maharashtra’s increasing alignment with national goals under the National Green Hydrogen Mission and efforts to position India as a clean energy manufacturing hub.
