In a major step toward advancing India’s green hydrogen economy, JK Srivastava Hynfra (JKSH) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Andhra Pradesh’s renewable energy agency, NREDCAP, to develop a large-scale green hydrogen and ammonia hub near the port city of Visakhapatnam. The $4 billion (₹35,000 crore) project is designed to produce up to 1 million tonnes of green ammonia annually, fully powered by 3 GW of solar and wind energy.

JKSH is a joint venture between India’s JK Srivastava Group and Polish green energy technology company Hynfra. Operations at the planned facility are expected to begin in early 2029, making it one of the largest green ammonia projects in the Asia-Pacific region.

The hub will rely entirely on renewable electricity, supported by battery storage systems and advanced energy management platforms, and is set to play a vital role in both domestic decarbonization and global energy supply chains.

A substantial share of the green ammonia output will be exported to countries such as Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan, where it will be used to reduce emissions in power generation via co-firing with coal.
