Thierry Lepercq, Founder and President of HyDeal Ambition, will speak at the MSGBC Oil, Gas and Power 2025 conference and exhibition scheduled from 8–10 December in Dakar, where the company will also participate as a Strategic Partner. HyDeal Ambition brings together 30 companies across the green hydrogen value chain, with a mission to deliver competitive large-scale hydrogen solutions.
Building on its experience in Europe, HyDeal Ambition is expanding into Africa through HyDeal Africa, a partnership with Gaia Energy, a Morocco-based renewable energy developer. The initiative targets large-scale, low-cost green hydrogen production for export to Europe, beginning with Morocco and Mauritania. With exceptional wind and solar resources and proximity to European markets, Mauritania is positioned as a key green hydrogen hub for regional supply and export.
HyDeal Ambition and Gaia Energy are conducting a joint feasibility study for a subsea hydrogen pipeline linking Mauritania and Morocco to Spain, forming part of a wider strategy to develop an integrated green hydrogen corridor between Africa and Europe. This aligns with the EU’s objective to import 10 million tonnes of green hydrogen by 2030.
HyDeal’s integrated approach is demonstrated through HyDeal España, a project under development in Spain comprising 4.8 GW of solar capacity and 3.3 GW of electrolysers. The model aims to deliver hydrogen at costs competitive with fossil fuels, supporting industrial decarbonisation and energy system transformation. The company’s expansion into Mauritania leverages the nation’s emerging renewable portfolio, including the planned 30 GW Aman, 10 GW Project Nour and 6.6 GW Megaton Moon developments.
During the conference, Lepercq will share insights from HyDeal’s European and African programmes, focusing on strategies to scale cost-competitive hydrogen production and infrastructure across the MSGBC region. Countries including Senegal, The Gambia, Guinea-Bissau and Guinea-Conakry are pursuing complementary hydrogen and renewable initiatives, positioning the region as an emerging hub in the global hydrogen landscape.
“HyDeal Ambition’s participation at MSGBC Oil, Gas and Power 2025 highlights the growing momentum behind West Africa’s green hydrogen drive,” said Sandra Jeque, Project Director at Energy Capital and Power. She added that HyDeal’s experience and integrated model will support regional efforts to build competitive, export-ready hydrogen value chains.
