Hydrogen Solutions AS (HYDS) has reached a final investment decision (FID) on two 20 MW green hydrogen production facilities located in Florø and Egersund, Norway. Each plant will deploy PEM electrolysers supplied by Nel Hydrogen and is expected to start construction from mid-2026.
The Florø facility (via HyFuel AS) and the Egersund project (via Kaupanes Hydrogen AS) target supply chains in the maritime, transport and industrial segments. HYDS emphasised that these projects represent a significant step in scaling competitive green hydrogen supply in sectors where direct electrification is challenging.
The agreement firmly positions Norway’s west-coast hubs as part of the emerging hydrogen export corridor to Europe, supporting the country’s ambition to decarbonise maritime routes and heavy industry. The projects also contribute to local value-creation by using domestic engineering and installation partners.
