Plug Power Inc. has announced that it will supply 55 MW of electrolyser equipment for three green hydrogen facilities being developed in the United Kingdom.

The contract includes equipment supply and long-term service for projects located in Barrow-in-Furness (30 MW), Greater Manchester (15 MW), and Plymouth (10 MW). According to Plug Power, this represents the largest combined electrolyser supply deal in the UK, though the projects remain subject to final investment decisions.

The Barrow-in-Furness project will feature six 5 MW PEM electrolysers, producing green hydrogen using renewable electricity. An offtake agreement has been secured with Kimberly-Clark, which intends to use the hydrogen at its nearby manufacturing site.

The Trafford Green Hydrogen project in Greater Manchester will deploy 15 MW of electrolyser capacity to support industrial and transport decarbonisation across the region, while the Langage project in Plymouth will install 10 MW of electrolysers as part of local efforts to expand clean energy supply.

All three developments have been supported through the UK Government’s Hydrogen Business Model programme. Final investment decisions for Barrow-in-Furness and Trafford are planned before year-end, while the decision for the Langage project is expected in Q1 2026. The facilities are scheduled to begin operations in 2027.
