Avaada Group has unveiled plans to invest ₹36,000 crore (£3.4 billion) in Gujarat to establish large-scale solar, wind, and battery energy storage system (BESS) facilities. The initiative marks one of India’s largest private clean-energy investments and a major milestone in Gujarat’s renewable energy expansion.

Founded by entrepreneur Vineet Mittal, Avaada has been at the forefront of India’s green energy transition. The company’s upcoming projects in Gujarat will integrate solar and wind generation with advanced battery storage, ensuring a reliable and consistent renewable power supply even during low-generation periods.

The state was chosen for its favourable policies, coastal geography, and strong renewable infrastructure, which make it an ideal location for hybrid energy projects. Gujarat’s proactive stance on energy investment has also encouraged the development of energy-storage incentives and hybrid project frameworks.

The ₹36,000 crore investment will be distributed across several advanced projects, including high-efficiency photovoltaic parks, new wind installations, and grid-scale BESS units. These facilities aim to provide several gigawatts of clean energy to India’s national grid while enhancing grid stability and minimising carbon emissions.

Beyond environmental gains, the initiative is expected to generate thousands of direct and indirect jobs, boost local manufacturing, and strengthen logistics and supply chains. It also aligns closely with India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission, creating the infrastructure backbone for future hydrogen production and storage.

Avaada’s expansion underlines the growing role of the private sector in India’s renewable ecosystem and reflects the country’s determination to achieve 500 GW of renewable capacity by 2030 and net-zero emissions by 2070.
