NTPC Green Energy Ltd (NGEL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of NTPC Ltd, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Paradip Port Authority to collaborate on green hydrogen initiatives. The agreement was formalised on October 27, 2025, during India Maritime Week in Mumbai, in the presence of Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
Under the terms of the MoU, NTPC Green Energy and Paradip Port Authority will jointly explore the development and implementation of green hydrogen-based mobility projects within the Paradip Port area. The collaboration will also evaluate opportunities to establish projects related to green hydrogen and its derivatives, such as green ammonia and green methanol, to support sustainable port operations and low-carbon logistics.
The partnership reflects NTPC’s broader strategy to accelerate India’s transition to clean and renewable energy sources while strengthening the role of ports as vital nodes in the country’s green hydrogen ecosystem. By integrating hydrogen-based solutions into port activities, the initiative aims to reduce emissions from transport, cargo handling, and industrial operations, contributing to India’s net-zero vision.
The signing of the MoU underscores NTPC’s commitment to advancing innovative clean energy technologies and fostering collaborations that promote sustainability across critical infrastructure sectors. It also aligns with India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission, which targets the production of 5 million tonnes of green hydrogen annually by 2030.
In a parallel development, NTPC Green Energy recently announced that 9.9 MW of its 92.4 MW wind power project in Bhuj, Gujarat, has become commercially operational as of October 25, 2025. The project was developed by Ayana Renewable Power Four Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of Ayana Renewable Power Pvt Ltd and a wholly owned arm of ONGC NTPC Green Pvt Ltd—a joint venture between ONGC and NGEL.
Through initiatives like these, NTPC Green Energy continues to demonstrate leadership in integrating renewable power generation with emerging clean fuel technologies such as green hydrogen, reinforcing its position as a key driver of India’s sustainable energy future.
